Critical Incident-De-Brief / Psychological De-Briefing | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Critical Incident De-Brief was originally developed for the benefit of the emergency services and military personnel who regularly experience as much exposure to traumatic stress in periods as short as one month in comparison to the majority of the population who might never experience trauma. This process has been refined and developed with experience and is now available to benefit the general population as well. |

The aim of immediate intervention of C.I.D. after such an event is to specifically prevent or limit the onset of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following exposure to such an incident. The method used at Jigsaw is a proven approach of relocating a traumatic memory into another area of the brain in which the stored memory does not engage with the emotional trauma of the event. C.I.D. is not counselling or therapy work, it is the clinical application of a long established technique. Trauma impacts on the lives of many people, whether through witnessing sudden or violent death, illness, bereavement, rape, assault, road traffic accidents, traumatic child birth and any situation that creates a shock. |

| Who do we work with? | |||||||||||||||||||||
Employee assistant programmes, emergency services staff, hospital workers, nurses, all palliative nurses, military, police officers, fire service operators and anyone young or old who has witnessed or experienced a traumatic event at any time recently or historically and whose life is still effected by this event. At Jigsaw we use a one-to-one approach with the intention of allowing individuals to talk, express their feelings and their experience of the event, to discuss any concerns arising from it and most essentially to prevent them from "bottling up" their emotions. www.traumaregister.co.uk - registered trauma specialists |
